Alabama Will Have Another New OC in 2025

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer will add former Washington (FBS) and Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to the same position next season.

Grubb initially joined DeBoer following his move from the Huskies to Crimson Tide last December following the retirement of legendary coach Nick Saban. Just days later, Grubb surprised everyone by taking the Seahawks play calling duties this season after spending the majority of his coaching career linked with DeBoer at various stops at Souix Falls, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State and Washington.

The coaching duo have produced electric offenses together like completely revitalizing Washington’s offense in 2022 to lead nation in passing yards per game, first downs per game and third down percentage, placing second in total offense and seventh in scoring. They would again lead the Huskies to the No. 2 passing offense, No. 12 total offense and No. 13 in scoring with an appearance in the national championship game.

This will be Alabama’s fourth different offensive coordinator over the past four seasons with Bill O’Brien (2021), Tommy Rees (2022) and Nick Sheridan (2023). Grubb will have a clean slate to work with as starting quarterback Jalen Milroe heads off to the NFL which leaves the quarterback race wide open this spring.
