VRBO Drops New Commercial Featuring SEC Coaching Legend

TUCALOOSA, Ala. — Former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban was the most hated man in college football during his run at the SEC’s premier football institution winning six championships from 2006-2023.

Now that he is retired, Saban seems to have all the time in the world as an analyst with ESPN and now lead actor for commercials. Vacation home rental giant, VRBO, is the latest million-dollar company to bring the seven time champion to screens across the country. He portrays an overbearing host with a number of requests.

The 60second commercial features a young family being greeted at their charming cottage rental by Saban. While walking to the front porch he greets them with ‘check-in time is 3 P.M.’ The wife leans to her husband saying ‘so this is what [Saban’s] doing now?’

The coaching icon pulled out his massive playbook of rules and guidelines that the occupants must follow throughout their stay. One major rule was no fun must be had during the stay.

Making light of other vacation rental competitors, VRBO shared it’s main goal of business: comfort for its renters. “Meanwhile, at a Vrbo, when other vacation rentals make you share your turf with a host, try one you have all to yourself.”

Hosts like Saban shouldn’t be expected but it is quite funny given the ‘no fun at all’ approach he seemed to be all these years.
