Worthy reacts to Bond’s failed vow to break 40-yard dash record
How Xavier Worthy reacted to Isaiah Bond’s failed attempt to break NFL Combine 40-yard dash record

INDIANAPOLIS — Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond declared he would break the NFL Combine record for fastest 40-yard dash ever ahead of his Saturday appearance.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure,” Bond told reporters Friday afternoon. “I anticipate running 4.2 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.”
Bond was in hot pursuit of the record which is held by former Texas standout receiver Xavier Worthy at 4.21 seconds and ended up being drafted by Kansas City. The Longhorns’ first round hopeful didn’t come close to breaking the record either, actually recording an exceptional time of 4.39 which ranked No. 9 among receivers who participated in the drill.

Talk is cheap but Bond has often let his play do so on the field instead, catching 99 passes for 1,428 yards and 10 touchdowns over three seasons at Alabama and Texas. The 5-foot-11, 180 pound receiver is currently projected to be selected anywhere between late first round to mid-to-late second round in the 2025 NFL Draft which begins April 24.
