There will never be anything funnier than a coach making fun of himself and former team.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart met with coaches this week while speaking at the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic and talked about quarterbacks who shredded his defenses. Those passers were Bryce Young (Alabama), Joe Burrow (LSU), Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M) and Cam Newton (Auburn).

Smart asked the crowd of coaches what each player on the Powerpoint had in common. Many of them replied with Heisman’s, quarterbacks and others said champions.

“They’re definitely quarterbacks,” Smart said. “That’s the most elementary thing.

The word “champion” brought a good chuckle from the two-time College Football Playoff championship winning coach. He singled out Manziel, who was nearly unstoppable during his two years as the starter in College Station, that he certainly wasn’t a winner of a national title.

“[Manziel] ain’t no champion,” Smart said. “Champion of what? Champion of fireball!”

Those in attendance roared in laughter as Smart brought them in. With a serious tone, he made sure to give each player their respective credit for having great days against his defenses whether at Alabama or Georiga.

“All right, Here’s one for you. They all had great days versus our defenses,” Smart said. “All four of them went off on us in some way, shape or form.”
