Kansas City Chiefs Potentially Zero in on SEC Assistant for RB Coach

NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma Sooners could soon be losing a member to its coaching staff, according to CBS Sports.

Sooners legend DeMarco Murray has emerged as a major candidate for the same position with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He has spent the previous six season at his alma mater under two separate coaching staffs.

The Las Vegas native was a member of the 2006 recruiting class, signing with Oklahoma as a 5-star prospect. Murray lived up to his rating as he rushed for 3,685 yards and 50 touchdowns across four seasons.

He was also electric in the passing game, catching 157 passes for 1,571 yards and 13 more scores. The Dallas Cowboys went on to select him in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Murray spent eight seasons in the league before entering the college coaching ranks in 2019. He compiled 9,339 total offensive yards and 55 touchdowns.

He received his start in the coaching profession in 2019 under former Arizona Wildcats coach Kevin Sumlin.

The Chiefs have struggled in recent seasons in the running game, depending mostly on Patrick Mahomes’ ability to scramble in the RPO game.

As a former college and NFL standout, Murray would bring instant credibility to the Chiefs knowing the inner workings of the league
