LSU Loses Star Player to Knee Injury
LSU will be without star linebacker moving forward.
BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU star linebacker Harold Perkins is expected to miss the rest of the season due to the knee injury he suffered in Saturday’s victory over UCLA, according to Matt Zenitz of 247sports.
An official statement from Coach Brian Kelly hasn’t been shared. However, he did say he planned to provide an update Monday during his press conference.
“He’s injured. We’ll do all the diagnostic testing tonight and tomorrow,” Kelly said Saturday following LSU’s victory over UCLA. “We’ll have a better answer for you when we do our presser on Monday.”
Perkins started his college career scorching hot recording 72 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and 7.5 sacks while forcing four fumbles and recording two pass breakups. He had a similarly productive season as a sophomore with 75 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Under new defensive coordinator Blake Baker, Perkins was named to multiple preseason All-American lists but was off to a slower start for the Tigers with only 17 tackles and just two tackles for loss.
LSU will look for a quality replacement when it faces South Alabama Saturday at 6:45 p.m. CST on the SEC Network.
