LSU Tigers coach Lane Kiffin has been on the road recruiting seemingly everyday since taking over in Baton Rouge in November.
He travelled down the road to Lake Charles to visit in-state 5-star offensive lineman Albert Simien Thursday morning, attending his morning basketball practice.

Simien was previously offered by former LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis, and Kiffin’s new staff has remained in consistent contact with the Sam Houston High School product.
The Tigers’ sent offensive line coach Eric Wolford to the school last week for a check-in while Kiffin doubled down Thursday.
It seems that LSU has made quite the impression on Simien while they try to make inroads and flip the momentum away from border rival Texas A&M and Notre Dame.
“I’ve talked to the new staff a few times now and I’ve gotten to know them a little bit,” Simien told Rivals Thursday. “How they coach and what their personalities are like.
“The new staff has been pushing that I’m a high priority for them.”
The Tigers, Aggies and Fighting Irish aren’t the only ones to earn Simien’s services as schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Nebraska, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss and other schools drop each week.
Weather impacted his junior day visit to Texas A&M last week with most schools affected have rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31.
Teams that appear to be trending for the blue chip lineman along with LSU are Alabama and Notre Dame, according to Sam Spiegelman as of last week.
“Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame are also trending to get the 5-star OL back to campus with a decision brewing. We’re also keeping a close eye on the Irish in this one.”
Simien, 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, is the No. 7 overall athlete in the nation for the 2027 class, No. 1 among offensive linemen, and No. 2 in Louisiana, according to Rivals recruiting rankings.
