LSU Gains Commitment Flip From In-State Wideout

BATON ROUGE — LSU continues recruiting at a high level, flipping the commitment of in-state 2025 wide receiver Phillip Wright III. The 6-foot, 170-pound wideout is one of the fastest players in the country with a verified 4.32 second 40-yard dash and 10.46 second time in the 100-meter.

Wright also has an offer to run track for LSU’s nationally renowned track and field program. He was recently committed to defending College Football Playoff champion Michigan earlier this summer over a list of ten schools including SEC schools Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas and Georgia.

He sits just outside of 4-star status as the No. 430 overall prospect, No. 68 wideout and No. 12 player in the state of Louisiana, according to 247sports. Throughout his career at Destrehan, the Wildcats have a combined record of 26-1 overall with an victory in the Louisiana state championship game.

Other schools who expressed offers and interest in Wright were Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

LSU’s 2025 class is currently one of the best in the country and ranked No. 3 overall by 247sports. The Tigers have commitments from three 5-star prospects including the nation’s top overall prospect, quarterback Bryce Underwood.
