One SEC Program Stands Out Ahead of 5-Star’s Announcement

BATON ROUGE — Five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench has announced his list of final four schools ahead of his scheduled commitment ceremony Aug. 30. He will choose between Texas, Miami, LSU and Tennessee with one clear leader pulling ahead yet.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pound receiver from Jacksonville, Florida exploded onto the scene nationally as a pass catching threat last season when he caught 62 passes for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns. Since May 31, Ffrench has taken official visits to each of his final four schools with 247sports recruiting experts logging three predictions for Ohio State to land him.

He has solid hands and a crisp route runner capable of creating separation between himself and defenders. His 11.67 speed allows him to win foot races with solid acceleration points in the open field.

PERFECT FIT?

LSU has a very good history of putting receivers in the pros since Nick Saban roamed the sidelines during the early 2000’s. Of course, Malik Nabers was taken No. 6 overall this year by the New York Giants. Nabers put up monster numbers with his Heisman-winning quarterback and No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels. He is the Tigers’ all-time leader in receptions with 189 and 3,003 receiving yards.

Since 2007, LSU has seen seven former wideouts taken in the first round which clears Ohio State by two. The seven Tigers include Dwayne Bowe (2007), Craig Davis (2007), Odell Beckham, Jr. (2011), Justin Jefferson (2020), Ja’Maar Chase (2021), Nabers (2024) and Brian Thomas (2024).

Ffrench is the brother of former Pitt standout, Marcus, who set the single-season school record for receptions in a season with 96 in 2019.

LSU currently holds the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation for 2025. The Tigers hold commitments from three 5-star prospects including top overall prospect Bryce Underwood.

That number could rise if Ball (Galveston, Texas) High School 5-star athlete Jonah Williams picks LSU next week. Adding the likes of Williams and Ffrench would send Kelly’s program atop the SEC in recruiting rankings. That would the Tigers with Alabama for most 5-star commits.
