Florida Gators’ offensive coordinator search comes to end with in-house hire of Russ Caldwell

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators coach Billy Napier conducted a national search to hire a new offensive coordinator but ended up finding someone close to home.
Current tight ends coach tights end coach had the “co-” taken off his offensive coordinator title and will now take over the reins in the Swamp starting Friday. Callaway’s promotion comes after he started his career in Gainesville in an off-field capacity in 2022 and worked his way up with two promotions prior to his latest move.

Before coming over to Florida, Caldwell spent time in the NFL with the New York Giants. He also was a productive assistant at the college level with stops at LSU and Samford, respectively. His high-powered passing attack with the Bulldogs led the entire FCS in yards through the air during his stint from 2018-2019.
