AUBURN, Ala. — The Auburn Tigers’ athletic department announced Friday afternoon that its football season opener against Baylor has been moved to Friday, according to a press release.

“Auburn football’s 2025 season opener at Baylor, originally schedule for Saturday, August 30, will now be played on Friday, August 29 at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas. Network television designations and kick-off time will be announced at a later date.

The game will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the Tigers and Bears, and first since 1976 in Auburn. The two schools played in Waco in 1975.”

The two programs haven’t met in a regular season game since 1976 when Baylor pulled off a road upset of Auburn by a score of 15-14. The Bears lead the all-time series 2-1-1 with the Tigers only win coming in the 1954 Gator Bowl.

Auburn is coming off a losing season in year two under coach Hugh Freeze. In an attempt to improve from last season, the Tigers bring in the No. 7 ranked recruiting class and No. 8 portal haul which includes former Oklahoma starting quarterback Jackson Arnold.
